Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDIp Ed, MIE/UOB)

In its endeavor to constantly provide quality professional development opportunities for in service teachers and democratize access to internationally benchmarked programmes, the MIE in partnership with the University of Brighton (UoB) innovates with the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDip Ed).

The PGDIP (Ed) is a bridging course consisting of four modules which are equivalent to the first year modules of the MA Education designed to equip teachers who have earned either a Post Graduate Certificate in Education prior to 2014, or a Bachelor in Education (Honours) or a Bachelor in Arts (Honours) with Education with the knowledge and skills required to work at Masters level.

The PGDIP (Ed) is accredited by the UoB and is recognized as part of the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) policy of the University implying that holders of the PGDIP will be eligible for the 80 CATS point on the Masters in Education programme delivered jointly by MIE and UoB making it more accessible to teachers.

The Aims of the Programme

The approach to professional development of teachers is one geared primarily to develop a capacity to steer one’s own learning and development. The Continuous Professional Development (CPD) experience thus seeks to utilize faculty expertise to meet the professional needs of teachers. The aims of the PGDIP Programme are to:
