Library Regulations
Membership is open to: 
   - MIE full time Academic staff and part-time lecturers and visiting lecturers
   - All Non-Academic and technical staff 
   - All bona-fide students of the institute
   - Academic and research staff of the U.O.M on the recommendation of their respective chief Librarian.
   - Bona-fide researchers from Government Ministries and Public Corporations on application to the Head Librarian of the institute
   - For researchers outside the above-named institutions, it would be at the discretion of the Head Librarian and each case would be considered on its own merit.

All borrowers are issued with a valid MIE ID card for loaning out books as follows:-

 Academic Staff  6 books excluding 2 from Reserve section
 Non-Academic Staff  2 books including 1 from Reserve section
 Students  2 books including 1 from Reserve section
 Students :MA Brighton & PGDEL  3 books including 1 from Reserve section

Hours of opening
   Weekdays : 9.00 am – 5.00 pm
   Saturdays : 9.00 am – 1.30 pm
   Weekdays : 9.00 am – 4.00 pm
   Saturdays : 9.00 am – 12.00 pm
The opening hours may undergo changes subject to the discretion of the Head Librarian

General Rules for Borrowers
   - The Head Librarian is duly authorized to collect the cost of replacing lost or damaged library materials.
   - The Head Librarian is authorized to withdraw all library privileges from users who willfully damage or misuse the library or its facilities or whose conduct is deemed to be unethical.
   - Borrowers are not permitted to smoke, eat or drink in the library.
   - Borrowers are not permitted to use their mobile phones in the library.
   - Bags, briefcases must be deposited in the spaces reserved for this purpose near the main entrance.


A book security system operates in the library. If the alarm beeps, please go to the counter.
Bags may be liable for inspection on request.

Reprographic services
   - Articles from books, Theses, and Dissertations can be photocopied
   - Requests for photocopies should be made to the Assistant Technician (Printing) on payment of Rs 1.00 per copy.
   - In the use of photocopying machine, care must be taken to avoid any breach of Copyright Act. Users are warned that they are fully responsible for any legal consequences concerning Copyright Act that might arise from use of machine.
   - The photocopying machine is located on the 2nd floor of the MIE New Tower complex.

Inter Library Loan

The Inter library loan is a service to obtain resources from other libraries, when they are not owned by the MIE library. We have at present a working arrangement with the UOM library and the MSIRI library respectively. This interlibrary loan mechanism applies to all full-time Academic staff of the institute and students who undertake the B.Ed courses only.

Catalogues: On-line facility for library users

The On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is available without restriction in the Lending Section. Only current members of the institute may use the electronic information resources made available via the Library's PC's.
